A Cane Field Inspired Poem
Down in those fields of sugar and cane, we stood in the bronze, bronze sun and gold, we traced our fingers against the long green and closed our eyes, i don’t know what you wished for, but all i hoped for was you, and you are all i don’t know - what is real when you are not here, maybe one day i will find out, maybe one day i will pretend, maybe one day you will be as true as these stalks but for now, you are in my head and there is the sun and the raw leaves, and you and i and a glimpse of the spectacular - please don’t leave my mind.
